SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports a three-vehicle crash in Spartanburg County left one dead and five people injured on Friday.

SCHP said a 2003 Chevrolet SUV was stopped eastbound on Brannon Circle when it attempted to turn north on SC 9 around 7:45 a.m.

The Chevrolet was hit while trying to turn by a 2006 Jeep SUV traveling south on SC 9. The Chevrolet then hit a 2008 Honda Coop, according to troopers.

SCHP reports the three occupants of the Chevrolet, the driver of the Jeep and the two passengers in the Honda were all taken to the hospital. One of the passengers in the Honda was a child.

A passenger in the Chevrolet was later declared dead, troopers said.

The coroner has not yet identified the victim.
