In the stillness of the early morning hours on Aug. 4, the sound of gunfire broke the quiet along the 4000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. At 1:02 a.m., Culver City police officers arrived to find a woman bleeding from a gunshot wound to her left forearm.

According to the Culver City Police Department, the victim told officers she had been approached by a group of suspects who tried to steal her electric bicycle. When she resisted, one of them shot her. Officers applied a tourniquet to control the heavy bleeding until Culver City Fire Department personnel arrived.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
