On Friday, it was Charleston’s turn to weather the late storm.

Multiple times during the Dirty Birds’ second-half slump, Charleston has fallen behind early, then made a late push that came up short. Not this time.

The Dirty Birds scored seven runs through three innings on Friday. They didn’t score again, but that lead was big enough to hold off High Point’s rally in a 7-5 victory in Atlantic League action at GoMart Ballpark.

Alsander Womack had two hits, including a home run, as well as two runs and two RBIs for Charleston (13-21 second half, 43-54 overall). Joseph Rosa knocked in two runs and Zach Daniels tallied twice.

Eddy Demurias got the win for the Dirty Birds, allowing four runs – two earned – on six hits over six frames. He fanned 10 Rockers and walked none.
