MUSKEGON, Mich. — The Muskegon County Prosecutor upgraded the charge against the driver accused of hitting and killing a motorcyclist last month.
Keith Williams, 33, is accused of running from police when he hit 40-year-old Nathan Thorsen on Lakeshore Drive on July 29.
Williams initially faced fleeing & eluding, first-degree and reckless driving causing death. But he's now facing a second-degree murder charge.
It started with a traffic stop that turned into a police chase on Lakeshore Drive, authorities said. Williams crashed into another car, and the pursuing officer stopped to help out the person involved in the wreck.
Williams continued, driving at speeds more than 75 mph, the prosecutor's office alleges. Lake Shore Drive's posted speed limit is 30 mph.
