COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus mail carrier who allegedly set fire to his former fiancé's vehicle last week was charged with mail theft Wednesday, court documents say.

According to an affidavit from the Franklin County Municipal Court, 36-year-old Brian Triplett was arrested on Aug. 8 in connection with a vehicle fire.

Investigators later discovered he possessed several pieces of U.S. Mail in his personal vehicle. A warrant has been issued for Triplett's arrest after he was released on bond from the previous arrest.

Triplett is charged with one felony count of arson and one felony count of theft of mail.

On Aug. 7, the Columbus Division of Fire responded to a building in the 60 block of North 17th Street on the city's east side for a vehicle fire.
