ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Sabrina Cummings never thought she would be forced to bury her only son.

“Graduated college with honors, smart, wouldn’t harm anybody. He had a past, but he did what he had to do but he came out, he got his degree,” said Cummings.

Her 27-year-old son, Zantrez, was shot and killed at Mozley park on May 27. Initially, Atlanta police said someone shot him when he walked toward the wrong car. This week, they said he was robbing somebody while armed.

His family said it’s not true, based on police video they watched and his character.

“My son, he didn’t want no money. He got his own business,” Cummings said. “He gets out the car, (what it’s about eight people with us) nothing in his hand, looking for his little sister, he went to go get his little sister.”
