A high school football player in LaPorte County, Indiana, was seriously injured during a game on Friday night, according to school corporation officials.
A South Central High School football player sustained a serious injury on the field while facing Calumet High School. Ben Anderson, superintendent for the South Central Community School Corporation, said EMS was called, and a medical helicopter was arranged to transport the student-athlete to an area trauma center.
The player was said to be in stable condition and responsive to medical personnel while being transported.
"We are grateful for the swift action of our trainer, first responders and medical staff, as well as the support and concern shown by our community," Anderson said.
