MADISON (WKOW) -- There's a name in Madison that's synonymous with the arts. Mike Leckrone served as the director of the UW Marching Band for 50 years.
Now he's working to spread that passion and give more people access to the arts.
Amber Noggle was lucky enough to be the first one to sit down with him and talk about his mission and how retirement is going.
"It's great! it's much better than I thought it was gonna be! I thought I would be bored silly, but I've been in enough activities, it's really kept me going," Mike said. "'I've been to all the football games since I retired and most of the basketball and hockey. I'm a real fan, I always was."
His passion for the UW, for people and for the arts has led him to his next venture, the Leckrone Arts Fund, also known as LAF.
