The New York Mets took a few months of the offseason to make a decision with slugger Pete Alonso in free agency. Ultimately, the Mets won the Alonso sweepstakes and ended up landing him on a short-term deal with an opt-out after Year 1.
This contract has paid dividends already, as Alonso has been worth it and then some for New York. He recently became the Mets' all-time leader in home runs and seems to be getting better as the weeks pass by.
