ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. — A father and child are facing charges after Roane County authorities said the child made threats toward students and staff at Harriman Middle School.

According to the Roane County Sheriff's Office, school administrators received reports on Friday that a student had made the threats. The school resource officer assigned to the school found the student and began investigating.

According to deputies, the child's father, Kevin Johnson, admitted to knowing about the threats but did not report them to the school or law enforcement.

The child was taken into custody and charged with making a threat of mass violence on school property, and the father was charged with failure to report a threat of mass violence on school property.
