Newnan opens season with 54-14 rout of Greater Atlanta Christian

Newnan got its first win of the season in dominant fashion Friday night, rolling past Greater Atlanta Christian 54-14.

Class of 2027 standout Jaylen Britt set the tone with a 70-yard kickoff return to the GAC 21, and Kameron Davis powered in from seven yards out on the game’s opening drive. Senior kicker Quint Johnson added the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

A fumble recovery by Kari North set up a 25-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Brodie Campbell to Britt, giving the Cougars a two-score cushion. GAC answered with a 64-yard touchdown strike, but Johnson’s 45-yard field goal pushed Newnan ahead 17-7 midway through the second quarter.
