RUPERT, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — One area of schooling that’s been growing in popularity is skills-based training, like career technical education.
Many of these programs received a boost in funding to help accommodate the demand. To help reach that goal, many Idaho schools offer CTE options where students get hands-on education in a vocational field, such as welding, auto or even animal science.
“Seventy percent of Idaho students grades seventh though twelfth take some kind of a career technical class,” said Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield. “We know that these are important classes, not just for skill building, but for interests that our students have and, for many of our students, why they come to school.”
