GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The NSAA D-6 football landscape is changing this season with a new school in the mix: Grand Island Lutheran.

The school was formed from the merger of Heartland Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran . This fall marks the first season under the new name and mascot.

Kevin Liess takes over as head coach and says preparing for a six-man football schedule requires significant conditioning.

“It’s a different game they call it full-contact track,” Liess said. “You’ve got to be in shape, especially with low numbers. We don’t necessarily have the luxury of saying, ‘Hey, I’m an offensive guy’ or ‘I’m a defensive guy.’ It’s as close to positionless football as you can get. I need everybody to block.
