CHEYENNE — James Dupré lived many lives before becoming a country artist.
Hailing from Bayou Chicot, Louisiana, Dupré initially pursued a career in meteorology before becoming a paramedic. In 2007, two years after the global video-sharing platform YouTube was founded, he started posting covers of songs by Randy Travis, Tim McGraw, Waylon Jennings, Vince Gill and more. He did this for several years before being invited to perform on “Ellen” in 2011, and later on season nine of NBC’s “The Voice” in 2015.
His appearance on “Ellen” is what led him to secure a record deal with Warner Music Nashville, who he’s still with today.
