The Iowa Cubs washed and rinsed the Worcester Red Sox, 9-6.
Starter Spencer Turnbull struggled as he put Iowa in an early hole by giving up five runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings. Turnbull walked one, hit one batter and struck out four.
Jordan Wicks relieved Turnbull, pitched the next 2.1 innings, retired all seven batters he faced and got the win. Wicks struck out four.
Nate Pearson threw the final two innings and collected the save. Pearson gave up one run on one hit and two walks. He struck out three.
With Iowa trailing 4-0, first baseman Jonathon Long hit a solo home run to get the I-Cubs on the board. It was his 18th on the campaign. Long had a big night, going 3 for 4 with a walk and the home run. He scored twice and drove home two.
