TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A former Idaho lawmaker is looking to unseat longtime senator Jim Risch.

Earlier this summer, former Democratic representative Todd Achilles stepped down from his role representing District 16, as he begins his run for U.S. Senate.

Sen. Risch has been in that role since 2009 and faces a reelection in November 2026.

Some of his major concerns include the increasing national debt, healthcare crisis and lack of affordable housing.
