Norman Bassette has been conspicuous by his absence from Coventry City’s squad in the club’s first two games of the season with little sign of a return against Derby this weekend.

In fact, the 20-year-old was also left out of the final two pre-season friendlies against Real Betis and St Pauli, having not played for the Sky Blues since July 23’s 2-0 warm up win at Bristol Rovers.

The Belgian striker, who signed as a late surprise package from French side Caen 12 months ago, excited and frustrated in equal measure last season, playing 29 times for the Championship club.
