Wetherspoons is slashing the cost of all food and drinks served in its pubs for just one day in September. The well-known pub chain has revealed that prices will be sliced by 7.5% on Thursday, September 18, to demonstrate the advantages of a permanent VAT reduction across the hospitality sector.

Wetherspoons has confirmed the price reduction will cover all of its food and beverages served in pubs, though in Scotland, prices will be cut on food and non-alcoholic drinks only in accordance with Scottish licensing regulations.

The price reduction means that a punter spending £10 on food and drinks will instead pay just £9.25 on 'Tax Equality Day', on September 18. Wetherspoons has reduced the cost of its food and drinks for a single day only for the past two years to lobby for equal taxation
