MUSKEGON, MI - A new steakhouse in downtown Muskegon is quickly gaining popularity for its quality entrees and diverse menu.

The Western Reserve had its soft opening in late May at 350 W. Western Ave., drawing hundreds of customers and resulting in the restaurant running out of most of its steaks at the time.

“I imagine tripling our inventory will take care of that,” co-owner Tyler Pavlik told MLive.

Pavlik and his business partner, Luis Cuellar, purchased the former distillery this past winter with the plan to open Western Chophouse, which was rebranded as The Western Reserve to evoke a more casual atmosphere.

“We didn’t want it to seem like a suit-and-tie, reservation-only type of chophouse,” he said.
