Nevada could potentially lose a significant number of low-cost flights after Spirit Airlines warned it's at risk of shutting down within the next year.

The company noted in an Aug. 11 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that Spirit Airlines continues to face challenges with profitability since filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November.

“The Company has continued to be affected by adverse market conditions, including elevated domestic capacity and continued weak demand for domestic leisure travel in the second quarter of 2025, resulting in a challenging pricing environment,” Spirit Airlines wrote in its SEC filing .
