“But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in Heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust, too.” – Jesus (Matthew 5:43-44)

This past spring, I went up to Table Mountain and watched the rain. It might be my inner Seattleite, but I love it. It fell softly, soaking the earth, providing moisture for the flowers and the grass. It pooled and ran together, forming gurgling streams and rushing down the rocks. The rain refreshes and cleans. It gives life. It creates beauty in streams and waterfalls and all living things.

And it always reminds me of one of my favorite verses, quoted above: God sends his rain on all of us, not just the deserving.
