NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A driver was arrested during a traffic stop Friday, August 15, according to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy was operating stationary RADAR on Route 29 South in Arrington and observed a driver traveling 97 mph in a posted 60 mph speed zone, according to deputies.

Deputies say as a traffic stop was initiated, the driver exited the Route 29 corridor and attempted to elude the deputy.

Shortly after exiting Route 29, the driver stopped and was taken into custody without incident, according to deputies.

The driver, whose identity was not released, was charged with reckless driving and attempting to elude.
