CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Even after severe weather hit, local sweet corn producers and sellers aren’t seeing much of an impact in their stock.

Nearly every day in August, Shawn Sams sells sweet corn throughout Linn County. He says the weather can cause a pause in production, but this year’s weather has been particularly favorable.

“If it gets real hot it comes on real fast and if it gets real cool at night, it’ll slow it down. So if you don’t plan it correctly, you won’t be able to get it continuously,” said Sams. “We’ve had some pretty close to where we almost ran out in that cool week or two there, but otherwise it’s been coming on perfect.”

While he’s been selling for 25 years now, others are newer to the business.
