BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WFSB) - City officials are warning the public after West Nile Virus was detected at two Bridgeport attractions.
West Nile Virus was found in mosquitoes at Beardsley Zoo and on Barnum Boulevard at Seaside Park.
Authorities are now advising the public to take extra precautions while visiting the city’s parks.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are giving some tips on how you can try to prevent mosquito bites:
Use Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellents.
Wear loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirts and pants.
Wear clothing and gear treated with permethrin.
Control mosquitoes indoors and outdoors.
