Emergency officials have lifted the shelter in place order following the chemical leak.

The shelter-in-place order that was previously issued due to a chemical leak at the Chemours Chemical Plant in Belle has been officially lifted as of 12:26 p.m. Saturday.

“The decision to lift the order was made after thorough consultation with the Kanawha County Emergency Management, the Chemours Fire Brigade, the Belle Fire Department, and the Chemours Incident Response Team,” authorities said.

Authorities confirm that the chemical leak has been successfully stopped, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
