GAINESVILLE — Florida edge rusher Kamran James had options, and certainly choices.

These days in college football, a list of suitors often is soon to follow, especially for a 6-foot-5½, 272-pound sophomore with a 38½-inch vertical leap and untapped potential.

But James remained loyal to the Gators after coaches replaced him in the starting lineup last October. Rather than seek a fresh start, the former Orlando Olympia standout stayed the course and set aside any notion he’d enter the transfer portal.

“You’ve just got to put your head down and grind,” James said Friday. “Don’t be entitled.”
