GILBERT — A woman is dead and a man was airlifted to a Duluth hospital after an all-terrain vehicle crash over the weekend on the Iron Range.
According to a news release from the Gilbert Police Department, emergency personnel were dispatched at about 10:22 a.m. on Saturday to the Iron Range Off Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area, a trail network located southeast of Gilbert, for a report of a crash with injuries.
Authorities arrived to find a 26-year-old woman dead from injuries as a result of being pinned underneath the machine. The driver, a 25-year-old man, was airlifted by Lifelink III to Essentia Health in Duluth with serious injuries.
