CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Advocates for a $117 million bond proposal for the Cedar Rapids Community School District say they have collected enough signatures to put the bond on the ballot this November.

Over 20 Cedar Rapids school principals attended the Cedar Rapids Farmer’s Market Saturday in an effort to gather petition signatures.

The petition, which supports the district’s bond referendum , is organized by the group Believe in CR Schools.

The group gathered more than 700 signatures on Saturday, pushing them over the 5,500 signatures needed to get on the ballot.

If the bond is approved by voters, it will fund:

Renovations to McKinley Middle School

The transition of Wilson Middle School into an elementary school for Cedar River Academy and Grant Elementary students
