BOWIE, Md. — Firefighters and EMS were called to Six Flags America in Bowie after 32 visitors were stuck for more than an hour while riding the park's SteamWhirler attraction on Saturday .
Emergency crews arrived at the park at 3:25 p.m. All of the riders were evaluated before being cleared by EMS.
Described by Six Flags America as a ride with a "moderate" thrill level, the SteamWhirler was introduced in 2024 among a slate of newer rides. Not quite a rollercoaster, the ride has four rotating arms with each arm holding eight passengers in its orbit.
While at the park, EMS also reported helping a visitor who had a medical emergency. PGFD said that the patient had been taken to the hospital with "serious but non life threatening " and that the transport was unrelated to the ride getting st
