WASHINGTON — Wanted by the Metropolitan Police Department for five months for driving an ATV into one of its officers at a gas station on U Street, federal law enforcement said they believe they arrested the man responsible for the March attack.

Gerard Stokes, 30, was arrested on Saturday in Greenbelt, Md., according to the U.S. Marshals Service, a law enforcement agency that operates under the U.S. Attorney General. Stokes was charged with one count of felony assault of a police officer for allegedly driving his four-wheeler toward two MPD officers at a gas station on a Saturday night in March, hitting and seriously injuring one of the two officers.
