A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Saturday at 5:35 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 6 p.m. for Rockland County.

Wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches) are likely.

"At 5:35 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Monsey, moving southeast at 15 mph," states the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible."

Locations impacted by the alert include New City, Monsey, Nanuet, Ramsey, Haverstraw, Suffern, Nyack, Tappan, Pearl River, Orangeburg, Pomona, Upper Nyack, Spring Valley, Westwood and Hillsdale.

The weather service states, "If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building."
