In just six months, the Donald Trump administration has been characterized by implementing radical policies using false information to justify its actions. An example of this is the narrative created around the now-defunct Tren de Aragua gang, which was turned, through fake news, into a supposed threat to U.S. national security.
One of the architects of this strategy was Joseph Humire, an official recently appointed by Trump to head the U.S. Department of Defense's Western Policy department after leading a think tank that published false reports on the Aragua Train's activities in the United States.
It was these reports that served to justify declaring this criminal group terrorists and subsequently deporting 252 innocent Venezuelans accused of belonging to that organization.
Humire was
