HOUSTON, TX (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — Panthers rookie Nic Scourton is out after suffering an injury during joint practice with the Houston Texans on Thursday.

On Saturday, following the Panthers' 20-3 loss against the Texans, head coach Dave Canales announced that Scourton had a collapsed lung.

Initially, the injury seemed to be heat exhaustion, but after he was checked by the Panthers' medical staff back at the hotel, they realized it was more than heat.

"It was a very physical play," Canales said. "It was presenting like a heat exhaustion, because he was having trouble breathing. He was getting tired and all that, so we kind of cooled him down we couldn't get him to respond good enough to where we felt comfortable about putting him back into practice."
