UPDATE: The Dade County Sheriff's Office has enacted a new K-9 policy after one of their K-9's died in one of the agency's patrol cars during extreme heat.
Handlers found in violation of this new policy, which took effect on July 24, will face disciplinary action, according to a post from the agency.

Veterinary records show the 1-year-old K-9 died of heat exhaustion.
"As we've stated before, we are doing everything we possibly can, to make sure this never happens again. We miss K9 Georgia dearly!"
