Four people are in a Colorado Springs hospital Saturday after their truck caught on fire upon striking a tree that fell on top of it, according to police.
The truck was reportedly driving westbound on U.S. 24, near Colorado Avenue and South 26th Street, around 5 a.m. and went over a curb, hitting a light pole and then continuing on the shoulder until it crashed through a chain-link fence and struck a "large" tree, police said.
The tree then fell on top of the truck, which caught on fire. The four occupants managed to climb out of the windows before the truck was engulfed in flames, according to police.
All of them were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
