OSCEOLA, Iowa —
Two Iowans were airlifted to Des Moines hospitals after a crash between Van Wert and Osecola that shut down Interstate 35 for hours Saturday afternoon.
According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, a northbound Dodge Grand Caravan collided with a semi-truck that was preparing to re-enter travel lanes after stopping on the shoulder due to a mechanical issue.
The semi, driven by a 47-year-old man from St. Louis, Missouri, remained on the right shoulder, according to the report, which said the van, driven by a 41-year-old woman from Leon, came to rest in the center median.
The van's driver and an 11-year-old passenger, also from Leon, were taken by air ambulance to Des Moines hospitals. Authorities have not provided information on their conditions. The semi drive
