The Oyster River Recycling Depot has a new owner, with Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) announcing it has purchased the facility to ensure it remains a vital community asset.

The depot, located at 2185 Regent Rd., will continue to serve residents of the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), Strathcona Regional District (SRD) and South Campbell River, with CSWM committing to upgrades and expanded recycling options in the years ahead.

The acquisition was funded through CSWM’s approved financial plan. Planned improvements include building upgrades, additional parking and expanded diversion services.

CSWM also hopes to integrate the depot into Recycle BC’s network, which would allow residents to recycle items such as glass, foam and flexible plastic packaging at the site.
