MONROE, La. (KNOE) - On of the biggest stars in music died on August 16, 1977. Elvis Presley was only 42 years old when he passed away at his home in Memphis.

Called the King of Rock and Roll, he had starred in 33 films, and broke records with live concert performances both on tour and in Las Vegas.

Globally, he has sold more than one billion records, more than any other artist. His work introduced a new era of pop culture to the world.
