Portland police organized a bike theft sting in downtown Portland Thursday that led to three arrests.

Officers set out “bait” bikes to lure would-be thieves, police said.

Police said that the mission was a “direct response” to an e-bike theft on July 10 in the 300 block of Southwest 10th Avenue where a team of thieves used lookouts and a power grinder to make off with the vehicle.

During Thursday’s mission, police arrested two people on outstanding warrants and a third person for first-degree theft, police said.

Police said they also seized 14 grams of cocaine from one of the suspects.

Police are still searching for the e-bike that was stolen July 10 and ask anyone with information to contact crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 25-183852.
