COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Authorities are investigating after one person was shot in the Midlands on Saturday.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were called to the area of Kay Street and Beatty Road at around 6 p.m.

RCSD said a person was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the lower body. That person was taken to a hospital, but no further details were provided on their condition.

The sheriff’s department later said it’s unclear if the suspect, or suspects, left the scene on foot or in a vehicle.

As of around 9 p.m., RCSD K-9 units and other deputies were still at the scene.
