BENTON, Ill. (WSIL)-- According to the National Education Association more than 90 percent of teachers spend their own money on school items their students need to succeed.

Can’s Can Ministries in Benton sells sports memorabilia to help teachers get some of those items for free.

Imagine being able to unite your passion of selling sports memorabilia and giving back to your community.

That's exactly what Greg Poole says he’s doing here at Can’s Can ministries. He says every dollar he makes goes back to helping his community and especially teachers.

“So if the item sells for $5, $5 goes back into the program,” Poole said.

On Saturdays, the shop is open and busy with people buying special sports items and teachers grabbing whatever they need for the classroom free of charge.
