More than six years after Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona was shot and killed while responding to a crash , the city of Davis on Saturday celebrated the grand opening of a new public landmark in her honor: Natalie’s Corner, a splash-pad gathering space in Central Park.

Corona’s three sisters led the opening, welcoming residents to a place designed to reflect the moments that defined her life, service, family and community.

As fountains arced through the morning light, at one point casting a rainbow over the pad, families and first responders joined city officials to mark the completion of a years-long effort.
