CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — A 37-year-old Mahomet man is dead after a motorcycle accident in Champaign Saturday.

It happened at the intersection of Bloomington Road and Mattis Avenue at 7:30 p.m.

Champaign police said the man went off the road on his motorcycle and hit a light pole. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Police shut down some lanes of traffic at the intersection for cleanup and investigation, but all lanes have since been reopened.

Officers are still investigating the crash. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Champaign Police Department.
