PHOENIX (AZFamily) — One Valley organization is aiming to prevent teen suicide by launching a social media campaign aimed at bringing teens together and sharing messages of hope.

The start of the school year can be an exciting time for some kids. But for others, it can bring painful emotions including depression and thoughts of suicide.

Suicide is the common enemy that is now teaming up more than 40 valley high school athletes, even from rival teams. Each student involved in a new social media campaign was nominated by school faculty for being a positive role model. They’re now starring in social media videos designed to encourage their peers to reach out when struggling with thoughts of self harm. It’s all part of Teen Lifeline’s “Messages of Hope” campaign.
