Air Canada says it plans to resume flights later tonight, as the federal government steps in and orders binding arbitration to end a strike with flight attendants.
The airline says it will take several days before its operations return to normal.
It comes as nearly a dozen flights across the provinces were grounded as the strike rolled into its second day on Sunday.
Federal Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu has directed the Canada Industrial Relations Board to order Air Canada and the union representing its flight attendants to resume operations, but the airline gave no indication it would do so until early this morning.
Air Canada flights operated by PAL Airlines, including many flights between this province and Halifax, are not affected by the strike.
