WASHINGTON — Hundreds of people protested President Donald Trump and the federalization of the Metropolitan Police Department.
The demonstration was organized by the group Refuse Fascism , who said they stand in opposition to the administration targeting the unhoused, disabled and minority youth.
"I feel a lot of hopelessness a lot of the time, but I take pride in seeing this many people here and I stand with everyone here in solidarity against this regime,” said demonstrator Jillian McLeod.
The protesters were a mix of D.C. locals and residents from across the DMV, along with a few who came from farther out of state, as many fear that D.C. is just the beginning, and that more cities across the country could go through similar federal takeovers.
