Thousands are expected to turn out for the upcoming 2300 Jackson Street Block Party that will feature Jackson family members, "Rush Hour" star Chris Tucker, Grammy winner Deniece Williams and the rapper Freddie Gibbs.
The two-day festival will take place on Michael Jackson's birthday Aug. 29, and continue Aug. 30 on the grounds of the long-shuttered Roosevelt High School at 730 W. 25th Ave. Gary Mayor Eddie Melton said it will likely become an annual event, bringing people back to the grounds of the historic high school.
