CACHE COUNTY – Republicans here are wasting no time in seeking a replacement for outgoing County Executive David Zook.

On Aug. 15, Zook announced that he planned to retire from public life on Monday, Sept. 8.

One day later, the Executive Committee of the Cache County Republicans scheduled a special election to replace Zook on Thursday, Sept. 11.

The location of that contest by local GOP faithful has yet to be determined, according to Natalie Levi, the chair of the Cache County Republicans.

The filing period for potential candidates is now open and will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept.

Levi explains that candidates applying to fill the soon-to-be-vacant post of county executive must meet the qualifications listed on the Filing Affidavit per Utah Code 20A-9-201.
