LOGAN — A wildfire sparked Sunday on the mountainside east of North Logan. Officials were first alerted to the blaze at approximately 11:30.
The fire, dubbed the Green Canyon Fire, is burning on Saddleback Mountain at the mouth of Green Canyon.
Logan City Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys said the fire has burned about five acres. It is moving up the mountainside, pushed by wind.
Authorities have closed Green Canyon temporarily to allow firefighters space to fight the fire.
Humphreys said ground crews and air resources are being used to try and quickly get the fire under containment.
No structures have been damage although the fire started just east of homes along 1800 North.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
