KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Investigators with the Kansas City Police Department are working to find the person responsible for a hit-and-run Saturday night.
The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. on August 16 at Independence and Monroe Avenues.
Officers learned a pedestrian was using a marked crosswalk on Independence Avenue when a silver Toyota Camry ran a red light at a “high rate of speed.” The car hit the pedestrian, then ran them over and kept going without stopping.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died soon after. Their identity has not yet been released.
KCPD said this is fatality #47 as compared to #59 at this time last year.
